Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I know I usually post once a week on Sundays, but I could not pass up the opportunity to write about Thanksgiving! I personally love this holiday season because it gives you a time to sit back and reflect on all of the things you are feeling thankful for.
I know many of us love going from Halloween to Christmas, and it seems as if Thanksgiving is that awkward third wheel between the two. Thanksgiving is more than just eating great food, watching football, or gathering up ads for your Black Friday shopping extravaganza, it is a time well spent with family and truly being grateful for what God has placed into your life. Personally, I love to pray to God and thank Him for everything He has blessed me with, or has helped me through each Thanksgiving…well, actually each day! What has God blessed you with, helped you through, or even pulled you out of that you are most thankful for?
For me, I am thankful for God blessing my family and I with good health and healing those who need it, waking me up each morning alive with a brand-new day to conquer, giving me the courage to attend a whole new church and making new friends, getting me out of dating situations that were not right for me even though I did not know it at the time, helping me through my anxiety and giving me a whole new mindset about life, and so much more. I could go on and on, but I encourage you to look deep into your life and reflect on all of the things God has blessed you with. I know there may be dark times, and even when you are feeling down it is hard to think positive and view what you do have right in front of you.
When you are or if you currently are going through a rough time, take this holiday season and make a promise to yourself that you will start to view all of the great things that you are blessed with that are right in front of you. You are waking up each morning, you have your health, loved ones coming home after work, food in the fridge, friends who cheer you on, clothes in your closet…You. Are. Always. Blessed.
This is a season of giving thanks. Thank God and those amazing people in your circle, and I bet you, if you were to take the time to show them how much they mean to you and thank them for all they have done for you…this would make their day. Sometimes even just giving to others and mentioning how they have made an impact in your life can help ourselves feel better and our hearts grow fuller.
You are blessed. You are loved. God is always with you. Lean on Him. Surrender to Him. Pray to Him. Thank Him.
